Introducing Ironworks Distillery’s latest Whisky tale – a story of sailing ships and spirits.

In 2023 we chose four barrels of our whisky, 100% fermented, double distilled and barrel aged in Lunenburg. Each three years aged in a mix of single-use bourbon barrels and fresh Hungarian oak. We blended them together, placed them in four Bourbon barrels, then in May 2023, we lowered all four casks into the hold of Barque Picton Castle. A week later they set to sea on what would be her eighth circumnavigation of the world.

After sailing 30,000+ nautical miles and visiting 30+ ports of call, Picton Castle returned in July 2024. The bottle is custom designed by local ceramic artist, Kara Highfield and was produced by the 250 year old French porcelain company Revol. Each box that holds these treasures was created by Mike Fraser from local pine, hand made and etched with Kristen De Palma's unique design illustrating the voyage.

Fewer than 1500 bottles of Around The World Whisky will be available – ever. This is a one-time release of an historic product, born of a partnership between Ironworks Distillery and Barque Picton Castle. Half of the proceeds will go towards Picton Castle's seatraining scholarship fund.
