Harrison (Best Distillery Dog Ever) 1999 - 2011
The noble and excellent distillery dog – booze hound extraordinaire and recent scene stealer in “Annie” – has now left us for another realm. On March 28th, with Pierre & me at his side, our fine dog-boy Harrison breathed his last. Unknown to many, Harry had been diagnosed with a virulent form of cancer back in the late fall. His prognosis was dire with or without heroic extensive treatment so we opted for life instead. He came with us on our Florida / Distillery tour in January – indeed a main reason we took that road trip was so that we didn’t have to leave him behind in order to take a break from the work. We went canoeing and hiking – saw some excellent sunsets and sniffed some fine dog butt (at least Harrison did – we’re not that far gone) for many weeks. For almost all of that time you’d never know he wasn’t in top shape but in the last week of his life the disease moved to another level and life obviously stopped being fun. We know he had a fine and happy life. We know it was the only and best thing to do for him to help him out of the pain. Nonetheless we are desolate and the front stoop will be very empty this summer.

I know this reply comes many months later-but wanted to let you know I’m so sorry to hear of his loss. My husband and I visited your fine establishment in June 2010, and I took a great photo of Harrison. I will forward it to you. I myself just had to put down an old friend, my beloved Rufus dog, age 17 1/2. I see you have a new resident cat, and we also have a new replacement dog, a rescue fellow. In case my photo doesn’t get to you- you can go directly to my photo web page which is:
picasaseb.google.com/alidalynn Once you are there, look at my album title Nova Scotia. Harry is photo #160 of 209. I have just visited your website today, as I was hoping to place an order with you. I have finished the last of the cranberry cordial we purchased, and was hoping to buy some more. I’ll also contact you directly on this. Thanks. Alida Christinaz, Fairfax Station, VA
